The winter transfer window is typically a period of feverish speculation and potential big-money transfers. Several notable stars find themselves linked with moves out of their current teams. We examine some of the key figures who might be changing clubs in January.

A. Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' failure to reach the AFCON, this has kept the player in contention, reports suggest a major transfer is close. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a £65 million buy-out clause active for a brief window in early January. Recent developments point to Manchester City have emerged as his signature. Other interested parties like Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have moved on to alternative options, leaving teams like Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a late move.

M. Guéhi

The England centre-back has continued to excel for Crystal Palace despite a previous move to Anfield collapsing. As his deal due to run out in the close season, January is the London club's last opportunity to secure a fee for their skipper. Numerous top clubs, such as Manchester City and several European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly be interested. Yet, a January exit is considered difficult, particularly given the manager's dependence on the player.

Brennan Johnson

This Wales forward has had starting minutes hard to come by at Spurs this campaign. Although being the club's top scorer the previous campaign, he has begun just a handful of league matches. Reports suggest the North London outfit is willing to consider a sale for the correct price, thought to be in the around £40 million. Bournemouth appear to be leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an interest.

Spurs value the Welsh international at around £40m.

R. Neves

This Portuguese midfielder could be set for a comeback to the Premier League after a period in the Saudi Pro League. Now only 28, and with his agreement ending in the summer, he is a possible opportunity. Teams like Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he would be willing to accept a reduced salary for a move to Real Madrid.

M. ter Stegen

This experienced German shot-stopper is now as the third option at Barcelona following new coach Hansi Flick. After lost his place and had an operation, a winter exit looks highly likely. Villa were once linked as a potential suitor, but that option now appears unlikely. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be expressing curiosity in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

This prolific English striker has kept scoring regularly in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League might boost his fading chances of being in the England squad. But, securing a deal poses major challenges. His current club are reluctant to part with him, and his reported huge salary make any move difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been mentioned as interested parties.

The striker was instrumental as his Saudi club to victory in the Saudi Super Cup showpiece.

Conor Gallagher

The dynamic English midfielder drew widespread attention in the summer but remained at Atlético Madrid. With limited starting appearances in La Liga this term, he may be eager to secure more minutes ahead of the World Cup. Manchester United have been strongly linked, and a return to Selhurst Park, where he shone on a temporary deal, is also a possibility, although wage demands could prove a problem.

H. Elliott

Despite starring and being named player of the tournament at the Under-21 European Championship last summer, this talented midfielder has found it tough for minutes on loan at Villa. Unai Emery has stated the loan move will not become permanent. Because of specific rules about playing for two clubs in a season, a return to his parent club before next summer seems to be the only viable outcome.

K. Yildiz

This exciting Turkish attacker is in fine form for Juventus this term. As his current contract running down, a host of Premier League sides – such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the developments. Juventus are eager to tie down the 20-year-old to a new long-term agreement but are in a race to keep one of Europe's brightest prospects.

K. Smit

This highly-touted Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. Following starring at the Under-19 European Championship, Smit has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar first team. The teenager is widely expected to complete a major move this month. Newcastle United are believed to be frontrunners, but could face stiff competition from the Spanish champions for a deal priced at approximately £22 million.
